James and the Giant Peach
James and the Giant Peach was British author Roald Dahl's first novel, released in the US in 1961 and in the UK in 1967. In 1996 Disney turned this classic into an animated feature, with Henry Selick (Nightmare Before Christmas) at the helm.
The cast included Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Miriam Margolyes (Romeo and Juliet) and the vocal talents of people such as Susan Sarandon, Richard Dreyfuss, Pete Postlethwaite and David Thewlis.
Roald Dahl
Roald Dahl is Britain's most loved children's author. He wrote numerous books for both children and adults, including such favourites as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, The BFG, Danny the Champion of the World, Matilda and many more.
Sadly Roald died on November 23, 1990 at the age of 74. His work continues to sell phenomenally even years after his death. He will be sorely missed. RIP.
